Job Description:Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in our Business Administration program to teach classes in BUS-203 Beginning Spreadsheets I and BUS-204 Advanced Spreadsheets II.
BUS-203: This first spreadsheet course will include the fundamentals of creating and managing worksheets and workbooks, creating cells and ranges, creating tables, applying formulas and functions, and creating charts and objects. These skills will be expanded and applied to business situations. Upon completion of the course, students will have met the objectives required to sit for the nationally recognized Microsoft Excel Associate Certification Exam. Students will be required to take this proctored certification exam on campus as part of the course. If a remotely proctored exam is necessary, an additional fee may be required. The Microsoft Excel program (not the online version) is required for the course.
BUS-204: Advanced Spreadsheet This second spreadsheets course will build on the skills learned in Beginning Spreadsheets. Topics include creating, managing, and distributing professional spreadsheets for a variety of specialized purposes and situations. Students will customize Excel environments to meet project needs and to enhance productivity. These skills will be expanded and applied to business situations. Upon completion of the course, students will have met the objectives required to sit for the Microsoft Excel Expert Certification Exam. Students will be required to take this proctored certification exam on campus as part of the course. If a remotely proctored exam is necessary, an additional fee may be required. The Microsoft Excel program (not the online version) is required for the course. Prerequisite(s): BUS 203.
The adjunct instructor is responsible for all aspects of preparation, instruction, and classroom management. These include but are not limited to learning management system (LMS) integration and maintenance, instruction and content delivery, preparing and grading assignments and exams, timely responses to student inquiries, and assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives. This course is taught on the main campus face-to-face.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MBA or MS in Mathematics from a regionally accredited college, university or foreign equivalency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with D2L Brightspace or comparable LMS.
Prior college-level teaching experience in Microsoft Excel.
Experince working at a community college.
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
