Job Description

Summary

As a Summer 2026 Intern/Aide at Baylor College of Medicine, you will gain hands-on experience in cancer research with a focus on computational and data-driven approaches. Key responsibilities and learning objectives include:

  • Developing foundational knowledge in cancer genomics and other omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics).
  • Learning to conduct integrative cancer data analysis using the R programming language.
  • Applying statistical analysis techniques and building machine learning models to explore and interpret complex biological datasets.
  • Creating clear and insightful data visualizations using ggplot2 in R to communicate findings effectively.

This experience will provide practical exposure to bioinformatics, biostatistics, and data science applications in cancer research.

Job Purpose

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.

Job Duties

  • Performs entry level administrative or laboratory duties.
  • May observe tasks related to field of study or career interest.
  • May assists with special projects/programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knownlege on biology and cancer genomics.
  • Basic knownlege on statistics.
  • Programs in R or other languges.
