Temporary Postdoctoral Scientist - Humphries Lab

Position Overview and Responsibilities
A temporary Postdoctoral Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth Humphries within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program at OMRF to study the intersection of glycolytic regulation and electrophysiology. Studies will focus on the PFKFB2-regulated fructose-2,6-bisphosphate axis and its downstream effects on mitochondrial biology, redox signaling, and Ca²? handling in the heart, with particular emphasis on how disruption of this pathway contributes to arrhythmogenic phenotypes and cardiac dysfunction. This is a mentored position for postdoctoral training.

There is potential for qualified applicants to be accepted onto an NIA-funded T32 training grant fellowship.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and write summaries of results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous research experience in cardiac physiology and biochemistry is highly preferred.
- Competitive individuals will have experience and knowledge of cardiac physiology, function, histology and biochemistry as well as basic molecular and biochemical techniques.
- Competitive candidates will also demonstrate proficiency in interpreting assay results, summarizing findings, and assisting with manuscript preparation, grant writing, supervising graduate students and presenting data at national meetings.
