Job Description

Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a motivated Intern/Aide to support cutting-edge cancer genomics and bioinformatics research. This role balances hands-on data engineering with rigorous statistical modeling to uncover insights into cancer biology. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex biological datasets and actionable medical insights while developing advanced skills in computational biology.

Job Purpose

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.

Job Duties

Statistical Modeling & Machine Learning

  • Apply statistical models to identify patterns in clinical and genomic data.
  • Implement machine learning algorithms to predict biological outcomes.
  • Conduct robust data analysis using R programming.

Visualization & Reporting

  • Design publication-quality data visualizations using the ggplot2 package in R.
  • Generate comprehensive figures and tables summarizing analytical findings.
  • Present structured results clearly to senior research personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
