Job Description
About the Position:The Applications Analyst is a member of the Information Technology team and plays a key role in supporting the department's and university's mission through the responsibilities identified herein. Produces data reporting and analysis. Manages security access to student applications, reporting tools, and data. Manages resolution of multiple PIDMs with associated student records. Serves as backup for Banner Communications Management.
Responsibilities:
Reporting and Data Analysis
Retrieve and perform analysis on information extracted from Banner and associated data sources using SQL Developer and other Bl tools such as MicroStrategy;
Assists with compiling data for auditors, government agencies, and others in the campus community;
Analyze requests and produce management reports for strategic planning and decision support, with special attention to analytical reports for enrollment management and other predictive needs of university management; and
Ensure reports meet customer requirements, provide accurate data, and are delivered in a timely fashion.
Security Management
Share responsibility for managing security access to Banner Student Module, reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, and Ellucian Experience/Patriot Web, and other associated applications;
Assist with annual security audit;
Review security requests for completeness and appropriate level of access to the job requirements, remove access from inactive users or those who have left Mason or changed positions where access must be requested by the new department;
Document actions through Workflow and imaging system; and
Assist with annual security audit.
Data Quality & PIDM Management
Manage flow of multiple PIDMs;
Review records for data quality and integrity;
Work with colleagues across campus and the MPMS tool to validate cases and conduct merges in a timely fashion;
Review PIDMs in the MPMS for student-related merges;
Coordinate with colleagues when multiple areas are affected to ensure data integrity is maintained as records are merged; and
Prioritize work based on urgency level of the submissions and their impact on the students.
BCM & Communications Support
Serve as primary backup for the Banner Communication Management (BCM) application;
Produce communications to students and faculty;
Develop and maintain the queries, templates, and other elements necessary to process the batch messages;
Use the departmental Production Calendar to plan and send scheduled communications;
Coordinate directly with OUR leadership to develop and prepare new message campaigns;
Send timely messages to student and faculty per the Production Calendar and special one-off requests; and
Maintain the queries, templates, and other elements necessary for communication management.
General Responsibilities
Performs various other duties where the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position;
Provides general assistance to the department as requested and needed; and
The omission of specific duties does not preclude the Assistant Director of Information Technology or Director of Information Technology from assigning duties that are related to the position.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
Current work experience developing in an ERP environment;
Experience performing functional business and technical user support in an ERP environment;
Experience utilizing project management principles and SDLC processes;
Experience providing production operational support for complex enterprise applications;
Experience in customer service, experience performing work through computer technology, and demonstrated experience implementing policies and procedures;
Knowledge of Windows, associated PC productivity tools, Oracle, including strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL;
Knowledge of computer applications and willingness to learn new technology;
Effective oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrate a strong combination of systems, data, and business analysis skills;
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to serve a diverse clientele;
Strong organizational skills and a high level of accuracy and detail orientation;
Ability to understand complex relational database designs;
Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff clearly;
