The Pharmacy Manager – Taussig Community provides operational and people leadership for a busy outpatient pharmacy serving patients at the Taussig Cancer Center. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, leading a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians while ensuring safe, efficient medication dispensing and exceptional patient service. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, workflow management, operational oversight, and supporting nonsterile compounding, in addition to traditional outpatient pharmacy services. The manager collaborates closely with the bedside medication delivery team to ensure seamless transitions of care, monitors productivity and quality initiatives, and fosters a collaborative environment focused on operational excellence and outstanding patient care.

A caregiver in this position will work an 8 hour shift Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Supervise the activities ofPharmacists and support staff assigned to the storeandensuresaccurateandtimelypreparation and processing of orders.

• Assume responsibility for safe andaccuratehandling of all funds and records.

• Review and interpret all physicianorders for processing, rationality, dosage form, allergies, interactions, incompatibilities, etc.

• Adviseprescribing physician of inconsistencies,recommendalternate medicationsanddetermine proper quantities to be prepared/dispensed.

• Provide drug information to physicians, nurses,patientsand otherappropriate individualsby consulting with physiciansregardingalldrug therapyrequested

• Clarifyphysician orders andassistphysicians in investigating new and alternate medications to be used.

• Instruct patientsregardingindividual mediation therapy.

• Enter patient and medication order information into pharmacy computers tofacilitatemedication dispensing.

• Coordinate the third-party prescription process by ensuring accuracy of information, includingpatient name, physician provider numbers, product name or NDC number, directions, directed daily usage and corresponding quantities.

• Supervise personnel functions, analyze workflow andadjustscheduling as needed.

• For specialtypharmacy, develop clinical documentation standards as required by URAC and other internal and external regulatory groups and customers.

• Develop integrated team and individual goals tied to overall specialty pharmacy goals.

• Adhere to direct report payroll budget and other budget areas defined by Senior Director.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
• Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within90 daysof hire

• Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations for managers in Retail Pharmacy

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)for managers in Retail Pharmacy

• Completion of a Health-system Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residencyor four years of pharmacy experience, including at least one year of leadership experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Board Certification (BCACP/BCPS) and/or residency training

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity sufficient to operate a personal computer in the course of the work, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking.
